Good afternoon! Wise JAMS is set to bein next week at L.F. Addington Middle School for students in Grades 3 through 8. Come join us and learn how to play the guitar, banjo or fiddle! Classes take place after school at LFA on Wednesdays from 3:30pm to 5:30pm. Lessons are $15 per class or $150 for the whole semester. Tuition assistance may be available upon request. This will run from September 18th to December 4th. Free instrument rental is available.

Good morning. This is a reminder that today, Tuesday, September 10, 2024, is a half day for Wise County Public School students.

From our Early Childhood Special Education Program:

From our Special Education Department; The Special Education Advisory Committee will have an in person meeting on Thursday September 12, 2024 @10AM. This meeting is open to the public and will be held at the Education Center at the Wise County School Board Office. All staff and parents of private school students, as well as parents of home-schooled students, are invited to participate. Please Contact Cari Braddock at 276-328-8017 for more information.

Union area schools will dismiss today, Tuesday, September 3, 2024, at 1pm due to a major water leak in the area. This only affects Union Primary, Union Middle, and Union High Schools.

This is a reminder that Wise County Public Schools will be closed on Monday, September 2, 2024, in observance of Labor Day. We look forward to welcoming our students back on Tuesday!

We are excited to welcome our students back tomorrow, Thursday, August 8, 2024! Tomorrow and Friday will be half days for our students as we begin the new school year. See you in the morning!

From our Food Services Department: The Virginia Department of Social Services will issue a one-time $120 food benefit through Virginia SUN Bucks beginning August 2024 to children who qualify. Children qualify and are automatically enrolled in Virginia SUN Bucks if they receive Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), or an income-based Medical Assistance Program (Medicaid). If you are not enrolled in SNAP, TANF, or Medicaid you can apply and potentially qualify for Virginia SUN Bucks by visiting VirginiaSunBucks.com and mailing the application to: Virginia Sun Bucks c/o VDSS 5600 Cox Road Glen Allen, VA 23060. Applications will not be available until July 1, when the webpage goes live. The Application for SUN Bucks will require you to enter your child’s “Local Student ID Number.” Contact the school your child attends to get this number. If you qualify, SUN Bucks benefits will be distributed beginning August 2024 on a rolling basis and will be loaded onto your current SNAP EBT Card or a Virginia SUN Bucks card.

The Tyler Giles Junior Youth Golf Day at Lonesome Pine Country Club will be held on July 30th! Free Golf Lessons, Free T-Shirts, Free Food, Free Golf and Give Aways for Junior Golfers (17 and under) starting at 9 a.m. Clubs will be provided to those who need them!
